The Iowa State Patrol says Deon Wingert was driving on County Road N28 when he drifted into a ditch. The impact rolled his Jeep and Wingert was thrown from the sun roof even though he was wearing his seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene

One person has died and another is injured following a crash near Gilbert on Tuesday morning. Zechariah Conrad, 25, was traveling northbound on Highway 69 at 150th Street when he crossed the center line and struck 65-year-old Richard Tjernagel head-on. Both vehicles entered the ditch and Conrad was ejected from his car when it rolled.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety says Kory Doeppke has been charged with two counts of Homicide by Vehicle in a deadly crash that killed two teenagers. Doeppke, 20, from Elkader, Iowa, failed to stop at a stop sign, and hit a truck, on February 16, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office reported

A fire in Adel late Friday night left several people without a home. Investigators say the Adel Village Apartment complex caught fire just after 11 p.m. Crews are not sure what caused the fire, but they say it resulted in severe damage to units on the second and third floors. Police responded to a rollover accident in Council Bluffs early Friday morning. Police said when they arrived at 8th and Mill streets, they found 20-year-old Benjamin Beer standing next to his overturned car. Investigators said Beer's car struck a parked car and rolled, damaging another car. He had minor injuries from the accident but refused treatment. Authorities say firefighters have helped three people from a burning house in Waterloo. The fire was reported a little after 4 a.m. Thursday. Two people who saw the smoke followed it to the home and tried to use a garden house on the flames after they called 911.

Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a funeral business on Des Moines’ southwest side. Des Moines fire officials at the scene told KCCI that calls came in just after 6 p.m. Saturday for reports of a fire. When emergency response personnel showed up, they found light smoke and flames surrounding Williams Wilbert Vault, a funeral home at 3420 SW Ninth St.

Distracted driver plunges car into Iowa lake

Officers with the Bettendorf Police Department say they were called to the intersection of Kimberly Road and Lincoln Road after a suspect ran from an officer during a traffic stop. The incident occurred just before midnight Thursday night.

Council Bluffs Police say no one was injured when a car was driven off the road Thursday morning into a body of water. Police say 58-year-old Frank Spring of Council Bluffs was driving his 2008 Chevy Malibu through Big Lake Park around 5:30 a.m. He looked away from the road and lost control, driving off the road and into a body of water at the park. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Four people were arrested Wednesday after an officer deployed a Taser while responding to an in-progress case of identity fraud, Council Bluffs police said. Officers responded to the US Bank at 421 W. Broadway around 9:44 a.m. after a fraud in progress was reported.

Des Moines police have released the name of a man killed early Wednesday morning in the Drake neighborhood. The man has been identified as 34-year-old Christopher John Latimer of Des Moines.
