A fire in Adel late Friday night left several people without a home. Investigators say the Adel Village Apartment complex caught fire just after 11 p.m. Crews are not sure what caused the fire, but they say it resulted in severe damage to units on the second and third floors. A unit on the first floor also has severe water damage.

Officers with the Bettendorf Police Department say they were called to the intersection of Kimberly Road and Lincoln Road after a suspect ran from an officer during a traffic stop. The incident occurred just before midnight Thursday night.
Council Bluffs Police say no one was injured when a car was driven off the road Thursday morning into a body of water. Police say 58-year-old Frank Spring of Council Bluffs was driving his 2008 Chevy Malibu through Big Lake Park around 5:30 a.m. He looked away from the road and lost control, driving off the road and into a body of water at the park. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

A West Liberty man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries Sunday after accidentally shooting himself outside a Davenport gun show. The unidentified 42-year-old "had a negligent discharge of his personal firearm while seated in his vehicle," police wrote in an email Monday, saying the investigation into the incident is preliminary.
