Investigators have found the body of a Waterloo man who was reported missing earlier this week. The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office said the body of 23-year-old Denis Maric was found in a wooded area about 200 yards from the Turkey Ridge Wildlife Area.

A man accused of stabbing to death his grandparents in the Mason City home they shared has been ruled competent for trial. A judge said in a Cerro Gordo County District Court filing Tuesday that 25-year-old Codie Matz will be able to understand the proceedings and assist in his defense.

An accident has caused a closure on Highway 20 westbound near Dyersville. The closure is between Exit 300: County Road Y13 and Exit 294: IA 136.

Investigators are looking into a suspicious death in Creston. The Iowa Department of Public Safety says crews were called to 300 East Montgomery, Apartment 3 around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night to a welfare check. When officers from the Creston Police Department arrived, they found the body of a deceased male.

A 15-year-old male is dead after a head-on collision in rural Scott County. It happened around 5:08 p.m. Police say a 15-year-old male driving southbound crossed the center line and hit a Ford truck head on. Police say the 15-year-old died at the scene. The driver of the Ford truck refused medical treatment. This happened between Eldridge and Long Grove.

A juvenile in Warren County was taken into police custody Wednesday following a bomb threat to a school. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Martensdale St. Mary’s School reported receiving a bomb threat around 8:50 a.m.

A school bus that had been reported stolen was found in a field with one man inside. Deputies were called to the 100 block of Park Avenue in Charlotte when a Northeast District school bus was stolen around 5p.m. on Tuesday, February 13th. According to a statement from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, the caller said the bus had been driven away westward on Park Avenue.

Council Bluffs police identified a suspect wanted for dragging an officer nearly 30 feet with an SUV Tuesday morning. Cody Doss, 24, of Council Bluffs, was already wanted on warrants before the incident, police said. Doss tried to drive away from an officer near 36th and Avenue G, when the officer's hand became stuck in the door, police said.

Officer was nearly run over prompting a help an officer call. Shortly after midnight, a Council Bluffs Police Officer pulled into the Kwik Shop off of Avenue G and 36th street.

One person is dead and another is injured following a crash near Indianola. The Iowa State Patrol said 29-year-old Jenny Somvong, of Indianola, died Monday in a crash on County Road R63. Authorities said 29-year-old Cody Meyer was driving south on R63 when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail and entered the northbound lane.

Authorities are investigating a threatening email sent to Nevada High School administrators on Monday. Nevada police say an email “indicating a threat of violence towards students and staff at the high school” was received around 2 p.m. Law enforcement and parents were then notified, and Nevada Middle School and Nevada High School were immediately evacuated.

A 35-year-old Burlington, Iowa resident has been imprisoned for shooting to death another man. Court records say Joseph Mayorga Jr. pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month and immediately was sentenced to 50 years. Prosecutors had lowered the charge from first-degree murder in exchange for Mayorga’s plea. Mayorga also was ordered to pay $150,000 to his victim’s family.

Pickup truck crashed into and partially through a wall at a Council Bluffs hotel late Sunday night. The impact sent debris flying into a hotel room, injuring one woman, police said. It happened at The Red Roof Inn off Interstate 29 and the South Expressway around 11:15 p.m.

Prosecutors have offered to drop a gun charge against Erin Macke if she pleads guilty to four counts of child endangerment. Officers arrested Macke in September after the kids were left in her Des Moines home alone. The children range in age from 12 to six

Firefighters tell us the Link Hydraulic building is a total loss after a fire this morning. It started shortly after 4:00 a.m. off of Westside Court. Firefighters saw a lot of flames when they got there. The Dubuque Fire Chief says someone nearby called it in. He says the fire started in the left side of the building.

Dubuque saw less crime last year. The police department's annual report shows the number of violent crimes fell 16 percent. Property crimes dropped 11 percent from the year before.

Authorities have identified a person killed in a northwestern Iowa house fire as a 10-year-old girl. The Sioux City Journal reports that Riley Meyer, a third grader at Central Lyon Elementary School, died when her family's house in George burned early Sunday.

Fire crews in Norwalk battled an overnight house fire and the extreme temperatures for several hours. The fire started at 1 a.m. at a home at 11711 Dakota Street. Fire officials said a family of five was able to escape the blaze. The home was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived.

In a press conference on Monday, Ames Police Commander Geoff Huff described the victim of a brutal sexual assault as a true survivor. After 13 months of investigating the assault, police arrested Devontez Voigts. He is currently being held in the Story County Jail on a $2 million bond, facing several charges including sexual assault and kidnapping.

A person was rescued from the Mississippi River in Muscatine just before 4:30pm. Officials say a 911 call first alerted dispatchers that a subject was in the water along the riverfront. Upon arrival, first responders found a person in the open water portion of the river. The fire department says that crews had to clear an opening in the ice that was large enough to fit a boat through in order to launch rescue personnel and paramedics into the river to save the subject.

One of the teens charged with arson in the fire that destroyed the Cedar Bridge in Madison County last April has accepted a plea deal. Court documents show Joel Davis, of Norwalk, pleaded guilty to second-degree arson as part of a plea deal.

A woman was arrested after leading police on a high speed chase through Burlington and West Burlington on Friday, February 2 just before midnight. Police say an officer with the Burlington Police Department tried to pull over Aaliyah Vandyon Williams, 23, of Burlington for a suspected narcotics violation.

Anthony Vincent Ettore, 52, of Wilton, IA was sentenced today for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver and also, on a separate charge, for possession of methamphetamine for personal use. He was also found guilty of driving while his privilege to do so was revoked, according to the Muscatine County District Attorney

A help an officer call is issued in Council Bluffs early Thursday morning. In a release, police say an officer was responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle near E Broadway and Frank Street around 3 a.m. when the officer fired shots while trying to take the driver into custody.

A Des Moines teenager faces several child pornography charges after police received a tip from an unusual source. Noah Notch, 18, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with 12 counts of possession of child pornography after police found out he had been using a cloud-sharing application to share and download graphic content.
