Police responded to a rollover accident in Council Bluffs early Friday morning. Police said when they arrived at 8th and Mill streets, they found 20-year-old Benjamin Beer standing next to his overturned car. Investigators said Beer's car struck a parked car and rolled, damaging another car. He had minor injuries from the accident but refused treatment. He was taken to the Pottawattamie County Jail and charged with operating while intoxicated

Authorities say firefighters have helped three people from a burning house in Waterloo. The fire was reported a little after 4 a.m. Thursday. Two people who saw the smoke followed it to the home and tried to use a garden house on the flames after they called 911.

Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a funeral business on Des Moines’ southwest side. Des Moines fire officials at the scene told KCCI that calls came in just after 6 p.m. Saturday for reports of a fire. Council Bluffs Police say no one was injured when a car was driven off the road Thursday morning into a body of water. Police say 58-year-old Frank Spring of Council Bluffs was driving his 2008 Chevy Malibu through Big Lake Park around 5:30 a.m. He looked away from the road and lost control, driving off the road and into a body of water at the park. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Four people were arrested Wednesday after an officer deployed a Taser while responding to an in-progress case of identity fraud, Council Bluffs police said. Officers responded to the US Bank at 421 W. Broadway around 9:44 a.m. after a fraud in progress was reported.

Des Moines police have released the name of a man killed early Wednesday morning in the Drake neighborhood. The man has been identified as 34-year-old Christopher John Latimer of Des Moines.

The unidentified 42-year-old "had a negligent discharge of his personal firearm while seated in his vehicle," police wrote in an email Monday, saying the investigation into the incident is preliminary.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports that former insurance agent 37-year-old Nicholas Menough, of Grimes, is charged with fraudulent submissions, forgery and second-degree theft. In the other case, former claim representative 42-year-old Cora Lea Harrington, of Pleasant Hill, has been charged with fraudulent submissions and second-degree theft.
