The Iowa State Patrol has identified the driver killed in a head-on collision in Warren County. At approximately 3:07 a.m. on Wednesday, an SUV traveling the wrong way on Interstate 35 collided head-on with a Casey’s General Store semi truck.
An Iowa lawmaker who pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated and possession of a dangerous weapon has been given probation. Court records say Rep. Francis "Chip" Baltimore, a Boone Republican, was sentenced Monday in Story County District Court. He was granted a deferred judgment, given a year of probation on both counts and ordered to pay fees and civil penalties of at least $1,500. Under a deferred judgment, the convictions can be wiped from Baltimore's record if he successfully completes the terms of his probation.

Authorities are trying to determine what caused a house fire in central Iowa that caused a 70-year-old woman's death this weekend. Investigators are looking into a suspicious death in Creston. The Iowa Department of Public Safety says crews were called to 300 East Montgomery, Apartment 3 around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night to a welfare check. When officers from the Creston Police Department arrived, they found the body of a deceased male.

A juvenile in Warren County was taken into police custody Wednesday following a bomb threat to a school. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Martensdale St. Mary’s School reported receiving a bomb threat around 8:50 a.m.

A school bus that had been reported stolen was found in a field with one man inside. Deputies were called to the 100 block of Park Avenue in Charlotte when a Northeast District school bus was stolen around 5p.m. on Tuesday, February 13th. According to a statement from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, the caller said the bus had been driven away westward on Park Avenue.
Council Bluffs police identified a suspect wanted for dragging an officer nearly 30 feet with an SUV Tuesday morning. Cody Doss, 24, of Council Bluffs, was already wanted on warrants before the incident, police said. Doss tried to drive away from an officer near 36th and Avenue G, when the officer's hand became stuck in the door, police said.
Officer was nearly run over prompting a help an officer call. Shortly after midnight, a Council Bluffs Police Officer pulled into the Kwik Shop off of Avenue G and 36th street.

One person is dead and another is injured following a crash near Indianola. The Iowa State Patrol said 29-year-old Jenny Somvong, of Indianola, died Monday in a crash on County Road R63. Authorities said 29-year-old Cody Meyer was driving south on R63 when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail and entered the northbound lane.

Authorities are investigating a threatening email sent to Nevada High School administrators on Monday. Nevada police say an email “indicating a threat of violence towards students and staff at the high school” was received around 2 p.m. Law enforcement and parents were then notified, and Nevada Middle School and Nevada High School were immediately evacuated.
A 35-year-old Burlington, Iowa resident has been imprisoned for shooting to death another man. Court records say Joseph Mayorga Jr. pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last month and immediately was sentenced to 50 years. Prosecutors had lowered the charge from first-degree murder in exchange for Mayorga’s plea. Mayorga also was ordered to pay $150,000 to his victim’s family.
Pickup truck crashed into and partially through a wall at a Council Bluffs hotel late Sunday night. The impact sent debris flying into a hotel room, injuring one woman, police said. It happened at The Red Roof Inn off Interstate 29 and the South Expressway around 11:15 p.m.

Authorities have identified a person killed in a northwestern Iowa house fire as a 10-year-old girl. The Sioux City Journal reports that Riley Meyer, a third grader at Central Lyon Elementary School, died when her family's house in George burned early Sunday.

After 13 months of investigating the assault, police arrested Devontez Voigts.
